This is so refreshing to find you, a poet who doesn't just write formal poetry but does it well. Phenomenally well! You might want to check out my friend, Brooklyn Crane. He's fantastic too.

I will check him out. Thanks!

Hi Alex, I hope you do. He’s good! Also, @Tony Burkinshaw writes some very good formal poetry. I think the three of you should all enjoy reading each other’s poetry. I do some but I also do a lot of free verse. Pleasure to meet you!

I’ve subscribed to both @Alex Rettie & @Brooklyn Crane! Checked them both out & like what I see.

(By the way, I didn’t know I wrote ‘formal’ poetry! Having seen Brooklyn’s Substack, I suspect that I write both formal and free poetry - who knows? Certainly not me - at least not yet 😉)

You do both, Tony. Your formal poetry is excellent because not all poets who use meter and rhyme do it as well as you, Alex and Brooklyn do - with the stresses on the correct syllables and the rhymes properly aligned. You, of course, write beautiful free verse as well. All of your poetry is phenomenal.

Thank you so much Kelly. It’s a wonderful thing to have discovered and to get such compliments from someone who knows way more about this than I do and has way more experience, is a little mind blowing.

I am absolutely loving this and it is showing all the signs of becoming something of a passion.

You write it with your personal touch! ✨😎 That’s the best gift we can give the literary world.

I agree. Everything I write is from a personal perspective either expressing the tumbling in the moment thoughts and ideas that turn up whilst I’m writing, or the emotions that are bubbling around (& poetry seems to be very good for this!).

You got an instant fan in me! I’ve been scouring Substack for rhymes and rhythm such as yours. So glad to finally find you!

Wow! Thanks for the kind words 🙏. I’ve always enjoyed wordplay but poetry is a very new adventure for me. It’s giving me a whole new way of expressing (and exploring) myself. I’m so glad you like what I'm doing.

I read your piece on rhythm and rhyme, something pentameter. Intriguing stuff, that I never got to learn at school (or since). I’m looking forward to finding out more.

A strange way to tell your lover she talks to much and is to moody. Its effectiveness depends on the evocative beauty of the description of snow. It makes for a good poem but I am not sure it will help the relationship!

Happily it is only a fictional relationship.

Muy excelente. We should talk, I'm just getting started here on another account for publishing (JESL). Just this one leads me to see a great similarity in our styles. I only have one up right now, an initial Post (a poem called Staccato Vibrato,a short conceit).

Felicitations. That's *really* good.
